Modern Asian households utilize many kitchen appliances that prioritize efficiency, space-saving design, and versatility. A traditionally less common and underrated kitchen appliance in Asian households is the dishwasher. In this Midea dishwasher review, this perception could change forever.
Key Concerns associated with using a Dishwasher
One of the biggest concerns of using a dishwasher is water consumption. In reality, modern dishwashers have been proven to use less water than traditional hand washing. This is also my experience as well after using a dishwasher for more than a month. Another concern is the perceived cleanliness or its ability to remove oily residues and food stains. While there is a certain truth to this, modern dishwashers use combinations of methods – hot water, powerful detergent and time to tackle even the most stubborn stains.

Installation of the Midea WQP8 dishwasher is relatively simple. You can put it at a kitchen corner, next to the sink or beside your washing machine. The only considerations you need to worry about are water inlet and outlet connections. The dishwasher comes with the hoses – an inlet hose similar to a washing machine hose and an outlet drain hose which you can direct it to your sink or the washing machine’s drain hole.

There are many options to choose for the wash programs. The most common program that I used is the Auto or the 90 min. Auto program will adjust the washing time depending on the soiled condition of the dishes while 90 min program ensure that the dishwasher will complete in a fixed time.
DETERGENT and RINSE AID
The use of detergent specifically made for dishwashers is important to ensure its effectiveness. This kind of detergent usually made of special chemical ingredients that can effectively remove, crush and dispense all dirt out of the dishwasher. The rinse aid on the other hand is released during the final rinse cycle of the wash program. The purpose is to prevent water from forming droplets on the dishes, which can leave spots and streaks. The rinse aid also improves drying function by allowing water to roll off the dishes. For our dishwasher, we used Finish Quantum Lemon Powerball cleaning tablets and Finish Rinse & Shine Aid liquid. We are very satisfied with the performance of this brand’s detergent and rinse aid.
CONCLUSION

For a family of 4 persons (2 adults and 2 kids), we cook almost on a daily basis. We find that the size of this dishwasher is perfect for us. We can fill up the dishwasher after every meal and it can save us an hour or two daily (for 3 meals) compare to washing the dishes by hand. In addition, the water consumption is lower compared to hand washing and the power consumption is not much – about 1 kWh per use. However, the consumables (detergent and rinse aid) can be costly as it is branded product. There may be other brands in the market suitable for dishwasher but we have not explore on them yet.
